There has been a verse that I haven’t been able to shake for over a week now.
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bear fruit in their old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him’ Psalm 92:12-15
There is something about the word ‘flourishing’ that sounds so good! So healthy and full of life.
And how beautiful the verse ‘ they shall bear fruit in their old age’. I had been dwelling on these words, and was excited to see God leading the seniors at the church I attend, to be honoured and prayed for on Sunday. There is much to honour and to gain from those that are seniors amongst us. And if you are in this group, be encouraged .. there is still much work for you, and much fruit to come!
Fathers and mothers of faith, you who have depths of experiences, have walked in your callings, have used your giftings, have been on your knees, have faced and struggled with afflictions, have seen the faithfulness of God… we need you!
There is a generation now, where many do not know faithfulness. Have never experienced faithfulness in family, in workplace, or friendship. A generation that needs an awakening to this very character of God. (In fact we need an awakening that brings revelation of all aspects of God’s Name – but that’s a blog for another time…)
So to the seniors..We value you. Your praying. Your wisdom. We value your testimonies and stories. The anointing you carry.
And so, I pray for all those that are ‘planted in the house of the Lord’, that you will experience a freshness and a flourishing. That there will be the sound of declarations of our God,…. and may you bear fruit in your old age!!
